Bentley releases Continental GT V8 S with more power and luxury

Bentley releases Continental GT V8 S with more power and luxury
Bentley has wrung out its 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine in the Continental GT so that it now produces more powerrrrrrrrrrr...... welcome the new Conti GT V8 ‘S'.
Of course, power is not the only thing you get, but it is the one we are primarily concerned with. Let's start with some numbers: instead of the standard GT V8's 500bhp, you get 521bhp in this new S, along with 502lb ft of torque (up from 487 torques).

And there are more Better Numbers to further stick your senses with: the coupe's 0-62mph time drops from 4.8s to 4.5s - same as the 567bhp 6.0-litre W12 version - with a corresponding increase in top speed (192mph), while the convertible GT V8 S now hits 0-62mph in 4.7s (down from 5.0s) and tops out at 191mph (up from 187mph). See? Fasterrr. Better-errrrrrr.....

Economy and emissions remain the same as the standard GT V8 though (mid 20s for mpg, 246g/km CO2 for the coupe and 254g/km CO2 for the convertible), thanks in part to the V8's cylinder shutdown system - in this mode, four cylinders are turned off under light throttle ‘cruising' conditions, but the full banana is resumed when you engage Stig Level 10. We are told this elicits an ‘emotive growl' from the exhaust. Lovely.

To help deliver more of this grunt to the road, Bentley has (deep breath) lowered the sports suspension by 10mm, increased the spring rates (45 per cent on the front, 33 per cent on the rear), revised the damping, stiffened the bushes by 70 per cent and rear anti-roll bar by 54 per cent, recalibrated the steering for ‘improved precision and feedback' and loosened up the stability control to allow for ‘increased wheel slip at higher speed'. Best prepare the drift shoes, squire.

Externally you get a new front splitter, side sills and rear diffuser, new 20in wheels, V8 S badging, a contrast centre stripe on the roof lining inside, knurled chrome detailing to the gearshift lever and ventilation controls, and an 8-inch touchscreen complete with a 30gb hard-drive. You can also appoint many options if you have many more pounds, naturally, though we've not had any details on price. Expect it to be a healthy chunk more than the standard V8's £123k.

Gmail and Yahoo to be banned for official government communications from December

Gmail and Yahoo to be banned for official government communications from Dece
Wary of cyber snooping, the government could ban e-mail services such as Gmail and Yahoo for official communications by December this year 2013 in a move to safeguard its critical and sensitive data.

The government is expected to route all its official communication through the official website National Informatics Centre (NIC's) email service.

The Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY) is drafting a policy on e-mail usage for government offices and departments and the policy is almost ready. The department is now taking views from other ministries on it.

"e-mail policy of the government of India, as this policy will be called, is almost ready and we are taking views from other ministries on this. Our effort will be to operationalise it by mid or end-December," DEITY Secretary J Satyanarayana told reporters on the sidelines of a CII summit.

According to official sources, the policy seeks to protect the large amount of critical government data.
It also aims to make it mandatory for government offices to communicate only on the nic.in platform rather than commercial email services like Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc.

The policy is expected to cover about 5-6 lakh Central and State government employees for using the email service provided by (NIC).
On investments required for the policy, Satyanarayana said: "We immediatelyneed about Rs. 4-5 crore to ramp up the NIC infrastructure. But, the total investmentrequired for the full operation ability of the e-mail policy could be around Rs. 50-100 crore."

This will also include integrating the e-mails with cloud so that official data can be saved on a cloud platform, which can then be easily shared with the concerned government ministries and departments, he added.

The development comes close on heels of concerns being raised by a section in the government, especially intelligence agencies, over use of email services, provided by foreign firms (mostly US-based), which have their servers located in overseas locations, making it difficult to track if sensitive government data is being snooped upon.

The move also assumes significance in light of the fallout of the Snowden saga, which contended the US intelligence agencies used a secret data-mining programme to monitor worldwide Internet data to spy on various countries, including India.

Former technical contractor for National Security Agency and Central Intelligence Agency NSACIA Edward Snowden had leaked what was allegedly details of a top-secret American mass surveillance programme, which led to countries analysing the safety of their official Internet-supported communication networks.

Sony launched Shadow Fall compressed to fit on PS4 but was originally 290 GB

Sony launched Shadow Fall compressed to fit on PS4 but was originally 290 GB
Sony announced Shadow Fall as a launch title for the PlayStation 4 back in February of 2013. We’ve already seen a demo showing us what the game looks like along with a game play walk-through video. Well, now we have some new info about Killzone: Shadow Fall. Apparently, at one point the game was 290 GB before it was compressed to fit on a PlayStation 4 Blu-ray disc
That compression took the 290 GB size down to 40 GB. One reason for the huge amount of data in the game is that Shadowfall has huge open game area. Also the game has no assets made to a lower specification. The technical director says that the surface area in Shadow Fall is 5 to 10 times larger than the area in Killzone 3, which quite frankly makes us excited for this game all over again. Even at 40 GB this is a huge file to download if you buy it digitally.
It won’t be a problem, but the PlayGo system for the PlayStation 4 allows players to begin playing when only part of the game has been downloaded, but will still require an estimated 7.5 GB be downloaded before that. This game certainly sounds like they focused on quality for everything.

Xbox One takes more Hard Drive space for installing games

Xbox One takes more Hard Drive space for installing games
With the next-generation of video game consoles, you will still be able to download and play your games directly from your hard drive, but if you look at some Xbox One game case overs, you wonder how many games you can fit on your hard drive. Seems like not many. Reddit user BenneyBopper published some photos of Xbox One game cases that were spotted at an EB Games store.
The games were Dead Rising 3, Ryse and Forza Motorsport 5. Each will require a certain amount of data to be installed on the Xbox One’s hard drive of course. Dead Rising 3 and Forza Motorsport 5 will require 35GB of storage. Ryse will require 47GB. Now think about that with the Xbox One’s 500GB hard drive. If we use these numbers, then somewhere around 10 to 14 games can be installed on the drive before running out of space.
The Xbox One doesn’t allow owners to replace their hard drive like Sony does, but you can expand storage capacity by connecting a USB external drive to the console. However, this feature won’t be supported at the launch of the Xbox One. Hopefully it won’t take them very long to give it to us. Looks like we will need it.

Nvidia Geforce built-in video encoder on every GTX graphics chip

Nvidia Geforce built-in video encoder on every GTX graphics chip
A new update for the Nvidia Geforce Experience has rolled out with it new support for in-game recording and also streaming built right in to the software that supports the built-in video encoder on every GTX graphics chip.
The new features are now available to games with systems equipped with graphics cards featuring a GTX graphics chip and can take advantage of the new update to remove some of the load from their CPU to the graphics chip whilst recording or streaming game footage. Check out an example of captured footage by Kotaku from the new Batman: Arkham Origins game .
The GeForce Experience app has been created by Nvidia to optimise your PC in two key ways, by both notifying you of new NVIDIA drivers as well as optimising your graphics settings in your games based on your hardware configuration and setup.
“The Nvidia GeForce Experience performs extensive game testing for various combinations of GPUs, CPUs, and monitor resolutions and stores this information in the NVIDIA cloud. GeForce Experience connects to the NVIDIA Cloud and downloads optimised game settings tailored specifically to your PC.”
“GeForce Experience does not collect any personally identifiable information. The application collects data needed to recommend the correct driver update and optimal settings including hardware configuration, operating system, language, installed games, game settings, game usage, game performance, and current driver version. You can disable data collection in GeForce Experience in the preferences tab, but without information about your PC, GeForce Experience will not be able to optimise your games.”
