Google - 56% of Internet searched for themselves online

Google - 56% of Internet searched for themselves online
According to a new study conducted by the Pew Research Center, 56% of Internet users have searched for themselves online, up from 22% when the question was first asked by the research firm in 2001.

The news comes as Google celebrates its 15th birthday, but the statistic stems from a study conducted earlier this year between April and May.
"Typing your name into a search engine to see what results come up was initially referred to as a 'vanity search' in the early days of the Internet, but increasingly, it has become an important way to check up on the most publicly accessible digital footprints that others may encounter about us online," Mary Madden, the author of the story, told Mashable.
"Employers, college admissions officers and romantic partners are all using search engines to do background research, so online reputation management has become a necessary social and professional skill for many in the digital era," she said.

Nokia will introduce hover based interactions to Lumia gadgets

Nokia will introduce hover based interactions to Lumia gadgets
It seems Nokia will introduce hover based interactions to Lumia devices. The speculation is based on a couple of patents that were spotted on the European Patent office, which indicate the sensor based functionality to reach Lumia devices soon, where the sensors will detect fingers from some distance above the screen.

It seems we might be looking at hover based text / object enlargement while reading or UI interaction, which will enlarge a word or part once you hover your finger on it, as well as handling of text input and icons. It something similar to the hover based wakeup where the device can wake up from standby mode when the users hover’s his/her hand over the screen.

On the other hand, Samsung already introduced hover based in its Galaxy lineup, but it will be good to see how the functionality is implemented by the Finns.
