"Google fined $25000 for stalling data collection investigation"


Google has been fined $25000 for obstructing an investigation into its “Street View” online mapping service gathering data from private wireless hotspots. However a larger inquiry involving Internet privacy issues has been dropped.
the investigation, described in an interim report, was left unresolved because a critical participant, the Google engineer in charge of the project, cited his Fifth Amendment right and declined to talk. It is unclear who else at Google might have known about the data gathering, or when they might have known.
Google maintains that the data gathering was unauthorized, according to a person with knowledge of the matter, but the engineer is maintaining that other people at the company knew about it.

The investigation into Google was launched by the US Federal Communication Commission, after it Google confessed that Google announced that Street View cars taking photographs of cities in more than 30 countries had ‘inadvertently’ gathered data sent over unsecured Wi-Fi systems.

"RCom, Google tie up to market Android devices with 3G connection"


New Delhi: Reliance Communications (RCom) today said it has entered into an exclusive partnership with Google to market all devices built on Android platform for two years in India with its 3G connection and other facilities.
“In line with the rapid growth of smartphones in the country, Reliance has collaborated with Google to catapult the change by providing new experience to device users in terms of
peed, coverage and app (applications) ecosystem across segments,” RCom’s Group Head for Brand and Marketing Sanjay Behl said in a statement.

"Akash manufacturing partners Datawind and Quad part ways"


Datawind, the maker of Aakash, now claims that it owns the copyright of the tablet and stated that contract manufacturer Quad Electronics violated its intellectual property right by signing a direct agreement with IIT-Rajasthan for development of the device. "New iPad to hit India on 27 April"


New Delhi: The new iPad will be available in India from 27 April, Apple Inc said on Monday, a month after it started selling the latest version of its popular tablet computer in 10 countries including the United States.

The third iteration of the best-selling device is priced between Rs 30,500 and Rs 50,900 in the Indian market depending on the variant.
The iPad with 16 GB of memory that works only on wi-fi networks is priced at Rs 30,500 rupees, while the one that can operate on both wi-fi as well as fourth-generation (4G) mobile networks costs Rs 38,900.
