The New Generation Dodge SRT Viper 2013

The New Generation Dodge SRT Viper 2013
When the new generation Viper is offered on the market, the list of competitors will be long. Models like the Acura NSX and the next generation Lotus Esprit come to mind as future cars that will try to give the Viper a run for its money.
The new NSX is expected to go on sale as a 2014 model. All we have on the future NSX is based solely on speculations as well, but for now it is rumored to get a new V6 engine that will deliver up to 400 HP. This will be more than enough to sprint the NSX to an impressive speed of 200 mph.
As for the future Lotus Esprit, it will be powered by a 5.0 liter V8 engine that delivers an impressive 620 HP and 720 NM of torque. With a weight of 1450 kilos, the new Esprit will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and will hit a top speed of 205 mph.
These may be the competitors in the Viper’s category, but a true comparison can only be made once we know what the heck is going on with the 2013 Dodge Viper.

The new generation Viper will go into production at the end of 2012 and will go on sale as a 2013 model. The sports car has been priced at $97,395, which is around $15,000 less than what Chevrolet is asking for with the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Sounds like a sound deal to us.

When the last model for the previous generation Dodge Viper rolled off the assembly line, many of us took comfort in knowing that the next generation had already been confirmed for production. The new generation SRT Viper was rumored and teased for a good amount of time, building up the suspense for the new design and powerful engine. Now, it’s finally here, bringing its new look and ditching the Dodge title in the process.

The new SRT Viper has received an all-new, timeless exterior design with a new carbon-fiber hood, roof, decklid, and aluminum door panels. As a first, the Viper will be offered with LED taillamps that integrate stop-and-turn illumination in one element.

Under the hood, the new Viper features a new 8.4-liter all-aluminum, V-10 overhead-valve engine that will deliver a total of 640 HP and 600 lb-ft of torque. The new engine will be mated to an improved Tremec T R6060 six-speed manual transmission.

Black Berry Messenger (BBC) App for iOS and Android is missing some features

Black Berry Messenger (BBC) App for iOS and Android is missing some feature
BlackBerry finally flipped the switch on its oft-delayed BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) application for iOS and Android.

Talk about demand: BBM was downloaded more than 10 million times during its first 24 hours, says the company.

App Insider took the application for a spin — on both an iPhone and Android — and while it is missing some of the features found in the BlackBerry version, this smart instant messaging service proves to be a fast, reliable, secure and fun way to communicate with friends, family and colleagues.

In case you have never owned a BlackBerry, BBM allows you to communicate in real-time through BlackBerry's secure servers, without requiring a text message package from your wireless carrier. You can see when your message has been delivered and read; chat with multiple people at once; broadcast a message to a large number of people; create groups for easy communication; send attachments like photos and documents; and post a status update people can read before they reach you (such as "In a meeting").

Up until this week, BBM was only available for BlackBerry owners, while cross-platform apps like WhatsApp, Viber and WeChat saw a huge gain in users over the past few years.
Now that BBM is finally available on multiple devices, many have wondered if it was worth the wait – especially with so many BBM alternatives. The answer is yes, though the app doesn't let you do things possible in the latest BlackBerry version, such as make voice and video calls for free over Wi-Fi to anyone in the world – but BlackBerry says it's in the works. You can, however, send a voice note to someone over BBM. The iOS and Android versions also do not support BBM Channels, BlackBerry's social networking feature.

For both of the new versions, the interface is attractive and clean, making it easy to start a chat, see your conversation as linear speech bubbles and use some fun emoticons — and you'll know when the messages have been delivered and read with the little D and R letters, respectively. Large buttons on the bottom let you invite more people, attach a file and add new contacts or groups.

BBM will always be on and always connected – that is, no app to open – regardless of what platform you are using. You can post a profile picture of yourself or use an animated Graphics Intercharge Format (GIF) for added fun.

How to get going? Like its BlackBerry brethren, all BBM users get a unique PIN (Personal Identification Number) that's not tied to your mobile number. To sign up, visit BBM.com from your iPhone or Android browser to download the BBM app from the app store. Once installed, you will be prompted to enter your email address to retrieve your PIN. You might get a notification saying your spot has been saved in a virtual queue, and you will receive an email when it is ready (a few hours to a day or so). The last step is to type in your credentials to launch the app.

To get someone's PIN, you can send them a text or email right from within the app or display your unique Quick Response (QR) code for someone to scan beside you on their device (or vice-versa). Or, if you've spent any time on Facebook or Twitter this week, simply post your PIN number to those who matter.

BBM for iOS and Android is a treat for expats who left the BlackBerry platform, as well as those new to instant messaging world. Its reliability, speed and security give it an edge over IM alternatives, but BlackBerry needs to beef up its feature set to truly compete on multiple platforms.

Apple reports fiscal 4Q tommorow

Apple reports fiscal 4Q tommorow
SAN FRANCISCO ----  Wall Street is not expecting much when Apple reports its fiscal fourth-quarter results tommorrow.

The 47 stock analysts who publish research on Apple see the company's quarterly profit falling slightly from a year earlier, based on their average earnings estimate of $7.92 a share.
Sales are seen nudging about 2% higher, to $36.8 billion.

Of more concern to investors than the September quarterly numbers will be what Apple has to say about demand trajectory for its two newest smartphones, iPhone 5c and 5s.
Last month, Apple said it sold more than 9 million iPhones in the first weekend the new devices were available, a record.

Yet Monday's earnings report will provide little more than a preview of demand for Apple's latest smartphone models, which were available only for the last two weeks of the quarter.
And consumer demand for the latest iPads — which became available just last week — won't be known until January, when Apple reports results for the current quarter ending in December.

That report will show how many consumer-electronics fans chose Apple smartphones and tablets over rival devices during the crucial holiday shopping season. As the market for mobile devices has matured, rivals including Samsung and others have offered less-expensive competing products, which triggered Apple's profit decline this fiscal year.
For the quarter ended in June, for example, iPad revenue fell 27% from a year earlier, while unit sales fell 14% – the first year-over-year sales drop since the device was introduced three years ago.

More troubling was that iPad revenue during the period fell almost twice as fast as unit sales, suggesting significant downward pressure on average prices for Apple tablets.
For the nine months ended in June, for example, iPhone unit sales rose 19% while iPhone revenue climbed 16%.

Apple gets just over half its revenue from smartphone sales, and some on Wall Street are wondering whether it can continue to find enough buyers to sustain growth, especially because its latest models are priced higher than rival devices.

Many analysts were disappointed last month when Apple priced its iPhone 5C starting at $549 (excluding any wireless carrier subsidies), a level beyond the reach of most smartphone buyers in developing economies.

Investors who have bought the stock during the last month are betting that the two new models — plus the new iPad Air and iPad Mini tablets — will be enough to start again Apple's growth.

Yet apart from any specific product forecasts from the company Monday, they won't know until January whether higher sales of the new products will be enough to boost Apple's bottom line.
