Optimized Apps To Tablet starts On November 21st from Google Play Store

Optimized Apps To Tablet starts On November 21st from Google Play Store
Finding apps optimized for tablets in the Google Play Store can be a hassle as it doesn’t show them in a way App Store does for the iPads. However, it seems everything is about to change as Google announced on the Android Developers Blog that it will make changes to how tablet-optimized apps are displayed in the Google Play Store and increase their visibility for the users. The search engine giant also mentioned that  these changes will also encourage the developers to optimize their apps for tablets.
Earlier this year, Google introduced the “Designed for Tablets” section where users can discover applications that looks good on larger displays. Google released the list of guidelines that developers should meet in order for their application be listed in this section. But, starting November 21, the criteria will be expanded to all sections of the Google Play Store.
Now, “Designed for tablets” section will be the default view for the users browsing Google Play Store on a tablet including all of the top lists (Top Paid, Top Free, Top Grossing, Top New Paid, Top New Free, and Trending). The applications will also be labelled “designed for phones” when browsing on a tablet — those apps who don’t meet the tablet criteria.
On November 21, the Play Store will make a series of changes so it’s even easier for tablet users to find those apps that are best for their devices. First, by default, users browsing Google Play on a tablet will now see apps and games that are designed for tablets on the top lists (Top Paid, Top Free, Top Grossing, Top New Paid, Top New Free, and Trending). Tablet users will still be able to switch the view so they can see all apps or games if they choose. Also starting November 21, apps and games that do not meet the “designed for tablets” criteria will be marked as “designed for phones” for users who browse the Play Store on tablets.
To help the developers, Google added tablet optimizations tips and checklist to the Developer Console. These can be used by developers to make sure that there applications meet the defined criteria and help them list their applications as “designed for tablets” in the Google Play Store

Apple starts refunding IOS Users Who Purchased iWork and iLife Apps after 1st September

Apple starts refunding IOS Users Who Purchased iWork and iLife Apps after 1st September
Apple started issuing refunds to all those eligible users who purchased iWork and iLife applications — which includes Pages, Keynote, Numbers, iPhoto and iMovie — after September 1st.
Last month at the iPhone launch event on September 10th, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that all devices bought after September 1st would be given the option to get iWork and iLife applications for free. The iWork applications includes Keynote, Numbers and Pages, which are normally priced at $9.99. On the other hand iPhoto and iMovie costs $4.99.
Reported by 9to5Mac, Apple has started crediting the accounts of the eligible users who purchased the applications after September 1st. Users who paid for the applications before the announcement or bought the application in confusion after the announcement, are also being contacted by Apple for refunds. However, do note that the amount varies from customer to customer and will be refunded only for the applications they purchased, not the whole iWork and iLife suite.
Here is an extract from the email.
Dear iTunes Customer,
On September 10, 2013, Apple announced that iPhoto, iMovie, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers iOS apps are now available as a free download on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated on or after September 1, 2013.
Our records indicate that you purchased one or more of these apps on or after September 1, 2013 so we have provided you with the iTunes code below in the amount of $5.34. This credit can be used towards the purchase of any content on the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store.
The refunds can be clained via iTunes redeem code, which will be included in the email.

US retailers - iPhone 5C at discounted price of $49.99 with a two-year contract

US retailers - iPhone 5C at discounted price of $49.99 with a two-year contract
The majority of retailers in the U.S. are offering the handset on a discounted price including Best Buy, RadioshackWalmart, and we all know the reason for that. It wasn’t as successful as Apple predicted to be, mainly because of its high price in the market. The handset retails for a whopping $549 for the unlocked version, which is $100 less than the upgraded iPhone 5S.
Reportedly, Apple also reduced the iPhone 5C production orders by half. Apparently, it was designed for the emerging markets, but the demand is not very high there as well. Take the case of China, the handset is being sold for a price way below its official price of 4,488 yuan.
Now, following other US retailers, Target is also offering the iPhone 5C  at discounted price of $49.99 with a two-year contract with a carrier of your choice. Additionally, Target RED cardholders can get the price down by a further 5 percent.
Previously, Target was offering the handset for $79.99 with a two-year contract , which was already below the official price of $99 on-contract. Now, it further reduces the price by $30 and users who wish to make use of the promotion can visit Target Mobile centers across more than 1,500 Target stores in the US. Obviously, you have to sign up for a two-year contract with any supported carrier. Furthermore, Target RED cardholders can get a further discount of five percent that brings the price down to $47.50.
Now, this is a good deal, but the folks at Walmart are still offering a better deal as iPhone 5C is available for just $45 with a contract while Radioshack is offering a $50 discount card with every iPhone 5C purchase.

Android 4.3 update for T-Mobile HTC One will rolled out next week

Android 4.3 update for T-Mobile HTC One will rolled out next week
There’s good news for all T-Mobile HTC One owners who are eagerly waiting for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to roll out. HTC USA President Jason Mackenzie also mentioned earlier that T-Mobile and AT&T versions will get the taste of Android 4.3 by mid-October, which seems to be on track as AT&T rolled out the update earlier this week. It appears as if the company is still on track as Jason Mackenzie tweeted that Android 4.3 update for T-Mobile HTC One is on track and will be rolled out next week.
T-Mobile will roll out the Android 4.3 update for HTC One next week, which leaves only one carrier left to receive the Android 4.3 update, Verizon. It was promised earlier that Verizon will get the update by the end of this month and considering that HTC has fulfilled its promise for other carriers, user can stay calm and wait for the sweet notification to pop up on their screens.
Just a heads up that we are still on track (barring some last second issue) to update your T-Mobile One with 4.3 by mid next week. — Jason Mackenzie (@JasonMacHTC) October 12, 2013
The unlocked and developer edition handsets already received the Android 4.3 Jelly bean update earlier, along with AT&T and Sprint.
