Often, during a medical call, I received lessons in health and wellness from the most unlikely of people. No textbook in the world would ever contain these ‘tutorials.' An evening in the late 1980s, a few days after Diwali in late October, on the banks of the Karamana river, was one such time when a popular local character, Chuppayyan (Subbayyan), opened up a new vista of well-being.

Karamana was a quaint, sleepy, and nondescript suburb in Trivandrum city and it was here that Chuppayyan wandered around without a home to call his own. He was an orphan but I would disagree if you say Chuppayyan was a beggar as he did many odd jobs. Also, unlike the scraggy looks of a destitute, he was a little plump and had a cherubic face. He would seek alms only when his earnings failed to satisfy his hunger.

New Windows 8 logo : It's a window, not a flag!

Microsoft has introduced a brand new logo for Windows. For Microsoft there's a lot riding on its highly anticipated Windows 8 operating system.

With Windows 8, Microsoft will dump the familiar multicolored flag logos that have adorned Windows for the last two decades in favor of something much … blockier. The new Windows 8 logo isn't a flag, it's a block made up of four squares that is either jutting out or sidling depend on how you look at it. There is no curve, no wave, no flex, just flat, hard lines.

Love it or hate it, this is the new Windows logo and it decidedly invokes the "metro" user interface found in Windows 8 and Windows Phone 7, which is made up of square and rectangular "live tiles" for apps for use with touchscreens on phones and tablets.
