Nvidia G-SYNC technology with monitor and software updates

Nvidia G-SYNC technology with monitor and software updates
Nvidia has announced a new Nvidia G-SYNC technology which it has developed that has been developed to eliminate screen tear experienced on PC games. The new Nvidia G-SYNC technology combines both monitor and software updates using Nvidia’s Kepler line of graphics cards to completely remove the possibility of tearing ever happening again. During Nvidia’s announcement of the new Nvidia G-SYNC technology this week, groundbreaking game developers such as id software’s John Carmack, Epic’s Tim Sweeney and DICE’s Johan Andersson appeared on stage promoting the new technology. The Euro gamer website explains a little more about the issues the new technology has been designed to correct:
“A fundamental problem facing gaming is that the monitor operates on a clock that is separate and distinct from your console or PC. On a typical 60Hz display, the screen refreshes every 16.66ms. If the games machine has a frame ready, it can synchronise with the display, but it absolutely needs to have the next frame ready in the next 16.67ms period, otherwise it will have to wait another 16.67ms for the next refresh. That’s the fundamental problem with games that run with v-sync – if that time interval isn’t met, judder creeps in.”

The new Nvidia G-SYNC combats these problems at a handler level by enabling the graphics card to take control of the timing of the monitor. Resulting in no more cheaply could frame is being rendered on-screen and eliminating any judder which would have been seen by gamers in the past.

To know more information on this innovative and revolutionary technology that will make PC games even more enjoyable to play jump over to the Nvidia website for full details.

Motorola Solutions Slips-out of LAN maket

Motorola Solutions Slips-out of LAN maket
Motorola Solutions Inc is observing the sale of its underperforming wireless LAN business, which has grappled with declining share in a market dominated by rivals such as Cisco Systems Inc, people familiar with the matter said.

An grappled slip-out from the wireless LAN market would come as Motorola, the provider of data communications and telecommunications materials , seeks to focus on its core government and public safety division.

Motorola Solutions, which succeeded Motorola Inc following the spin-off of the mobile phones business into Motorola Mobility in 2011, provides communication services for the U.S. government and other business customers. Motorola Mobility was later sold to Google Inc for $12.5 billion.

The wireless local area network unit, which is under Motorola Solutions' enterprise division, has struggled  competition from top players including Aruba Networks Inc and H.P Co, as well as smaller players such as Ubiquiti Networks Inc.

The people asked not to be named because the matter is secret. Motorola declined to talk about the matter..
The Motorola unit's revenues declined by a mid-single digit percentage point in the second quarter, following a massive 30 percent down in the first quarter. The business had 216.7 $ million in 2012 revenues, roughly 8 percent of the 2.71 $ billion enterprise business.

The global enterprise wireless LAN business is expected to be a 4$ billion market for 2013, according to research firm Dell'Oro group. Cisco is the market leader, with nearly 55 percent of the market segment revenue, followed by Aruba at just over 12 percent.

The value of Motorola's wireless LAN business could not be decided.
Motorola Solutions, which has a market value of just over $16 billion, ruled the two-way radio market with its land-mobile-radio systems and public-safety products, and the U.S. government is its largest customer. The company's government business brought in nearly 70 percent of its total revenue last year. The attempt to shed the wireless LAN unit follows other divestitures Motorola Solutions has undertaken since 2011.

The company sold its wireless network assets to Nokia Siemens Networks for $975 million in 2011, and later that year sold small broadband networks units to buyout firm Vector Capital for an undisclosed sum. Motorola Solutions cut its revenue forecast in July for the second time in three months because of decrease in its enterprise business.

Earlier this year, the company's chief executive said that revenue decreased in the wireless LAN business were due to a "failure to execute" rather than market forces, and said the company had not done a "good enough job" selling wireless LAN products as part of its managed service offering, rather than as stand alone products.

"We have consistently lost share in WLAN and we just haven't showed that well. Now it is a little bit more embryonic in terms of our strategic change from product to managed services but we've got to do a better job," Chief Executive Greg Brown told analysts in April.

Meanwhile, Motorola Solutions is offering a voluntary buyout program to select employees in North America, or less than 20 percent of the company's global workforce, a spokesperson for the company said on Friday. A few hundred employees are expected to participate in the separation program, the spokesperson added.

Google Maps can deliver complete views of the world with imagery

Google Maps can deliver complete views of the world with imagery
Google Maps can deliver complete views of the world with imagery that zooms right down to our backyards, they are can't be much demand for desk globes anymore. So a Japanese company  Gakken has taken its Worldeye globe to another level by turning it into a display that can show everything from weather patterns to stars.
When

Technically the $650 Worldeye is only half a globe, because the other half of the sphere houses a projector which is used to show its moving images and animations. But since it's the imagery that moves, you'll never have to actually spin the globe.

In addition to the countries and continents you'd expect a globe to display, the Worldeye includes 48 animations and videos of everything from wind patterns, to animal migration, to currents, to even constellations and planets. In other words, the globe is no longer limited to just teaching lessons on geography and how fast it can be spin. With the ability to load your own videos or even connect another device via HTMI, it will exhibit just about anything we want.

Nintendo has stopped manufacturing Wii consoles

Nintendo has stopped manufacturing Wii consoles
Nintendo has stopped manufacturing Wii consoles for the country and has now listed it officially as discontinued. People wanting to buy a Wii this holiday season in Japan will have to hunt down leftover stock, purchase one online from another country, or buy a Wii U instead.
The news foreshadows the console’s ultimate upcoming demise, although that does mean the Wii U will likely drop in price during the next few months. I doubt it’ll drop before Christmas, but sometime next Spring or Summer sounds about right.
Nintendo had to make this step eventually to push their new system out. Its sales haven’t been all that great, and I wouldn’t expect them to increase much after the next-gen consoles launch. Yes, I know the Wii U is technically Nintendo’s next-gen, but let’s be honest here and admit that the console doesn’t exactly live up to the title.
