"No Galaxy Nexus for India: Samsung breaks our hearts via Twitter"

The company announced via Twitter last night that it won’t be launching its much awaited Galaxy Nexus smartphone in India.

Samsung, which is due to unveil it’s next generation Galaxy S phone today in London has given some rather disappointing news to its Indian fans in a rather, well – casual way. In an almost ‘by the way’ approach, the company announced via Twitter last night that it won’t be launching its much awaited Galaxy Nexus smartphone in India.

Adding insult to injury, the heartbreaking announcement  in 140 characters was not even of their own volition. It came instead as a reply to a question posed by a fan, Amit Wagh, who asked Why there was no Galaxy nexus in India. Samsung’s reply:

“The Galaxy nexus will not be launched in India. Watch this space for the next big thing.” The next big thing? We want THIS big thing! And what’s the point of ‘watching’ a space only to be told at the last minute that we can’t have it?

The launch event for the Nexus is in London tonight, but Indian fans just may not be watching after this Twitter snub. But why is Samsung treating India like Apple does?  Hurt feelings aside, it does not even make business sense, since  Samsung does have a fairly large number of fans in India. And given that India is one of the fastest growing handset markets in the world, this may prove to be a costly mistake.

If you feel cheated by Samsung and are ready to relinquish all ties however, you can look at Nokia which will be launching it’s Pureview 808 in India this month.

As IBN-Live reports, This is for the first time that the company has officially denied the launch of the Galaxy Nexus in India.

What’s the big deal about the Galaxy Nexus phone? Well it’s the first phone on Google’s Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operation system.

It was launched by  Samsung and Google in October, 2011. Other technical specifications include, 1.2 Ghz dual core processor, 16GB internal disk space and a 4.65 inch screen.
