"Tech News: Google Docs gets facelift with 450 new fonts"

Google updated Gmail yesterday by adding automatic translation to it’s popular email service. Now the software giant has updated its online word editing program, Google Docs. In a new blogpost, Google announced that it Docs will now feature 450 new fonts and a host of other features.

For those who want to access the new fonts, all you need to do is click on Fonts option Docs and go right to the bottom and choose to add a new font. Once you pick the kind of fonts you want, you can add them to Doc library and then use them for your document.

Google Drive is now the home folder for all Google docs.  You can also create a new folder in Google Drive now on Firefox and other browsers. Initially this was restricted to Chrome.

Google Docs now has more options for inserting images in Docs. You can also insert images from the Drive into Docs, or search for images from the LIFE Photo archive, ( an online photo archive hosted by Google) or take a snapshot with your webcam or simply put in an image URL . You can also go to file and choose a default page size for a doc.

Comments on a doc will now appear on the right with a little voice-box, with your Google plus profile image inside it. And the comments box does look quite attractive.

In addition to this the blogpost also mentions the following support changes:

An increase in the allowed attachment size in emails from 5MB to 25MB. An increase in the size of docs files you can create from 2MB to 50MB.

Google also added over 60 new templates for users who want to use one while creating a document.

Overall it looks like Google is doing it’s best to spice up Docs which it hopes will be a viable online solution to rival Microsoft’s popular editing software, Word.
