Sound Taxi makes music from London city sounds

That black London cab that you see here turns the hustle and bustle of London into music. In other words it turns the audio chaos of a city in beautiful sounds. The Sound Taxi toured London last week in fact. It collects ambient sound pollution with a roof-mounted mic, then recycles it through production software and pumps out real-time mixes on those speakers.

This vehicle is a collaboration between headphone company AiAiAi and Yuri Suzuki, with Mark McKeague providing the back-end tech that turns the sounds into tracks.

To hear the music check out the Make The City Sound Better website. I wonder if they accidentally captured the sound of a TARDIS materializing and what kind of music that adds to the mix.
