Sony plans to charge a monthly fee for multiplayer games on PS 4

One of the things many of us loved about the PlayStation 3 compared to the Xbox 360 is that we didn’t have to pay a monthly fee to play multiplayer games with the PlayStation 3. On the Xbox 360, you have to pay a monthly fee for online play. Well, those days are over. A lot of people may not know it, but it looks like Sony plans to charge a monthly fee for multiplayer games on the PlayStation 4.

It hasn’t really been noticed by Sony fans, but back in May of 2013, Sony said that the PlayStation 4 would be more profitable than the PlayStation 3. I guess this is why. Charging players to access multiplayer games will certainly help with profit. It looks like Sony will charge $9.99 monthly in the US and 6.99 euros in Europe.

In Japan Sony will charge 500 yen, or about $5 per month. Gamers will also be able to purchase a yearly membership, 12 months of access for $49.99. The yearly subscription saves some money. Aside from multiplayer, there will be other features that gamers get, like so many free games per month and special timed trials to name a few. It sucks, but it is worth it since you get a lot for your money.
