iPad Air uses Apple’s new 64-bit A7 processor and M7 motion processor

Primate Labs have posted some Geekbench 3 benchmarks for the iPad Air, on the Geekbench 3 Single-Core, the iPad Air scored 1465, the 4th generation iPad scored 771. On the Geekbench 3 Multi-Core the iPad Air scores 2643, this compare to a score of 1408 for the 4th generation iPad, and it scores considerably more than last years iPad Mini which comes in with a score of 496.

When Apple announced the new iPad Air, they said it would be twice as fast as the fourth generation iPad, and it looks like the claims were correct from the benchmarks that have been revealed. The iPad Air uses Apple’s new 64-bit A7 processor and Apple’s M7 motion processor, these processors will also be in the new iPad Mini which will launch later in November.

The iPad Air will launch in the US, Europe and a number of other countries this Friday the 1st of November, prices will start at $499 for the 16GB WiFi only model. Apple’s latest iPad will be available with a choice of either 16GB, 32gB, 64GB or 128GB of storage and it will also come in WiFi and Cellular models.
