Microsoft Windows 8.1 Brings Enhanced Support For HD Mulitple Display Systems

Microsoft is currently preparing to release its new Windows 8.1 operating system update later this year and if you currently have a system with multiple displays you might be pleased to learn that Microsoft is including features that will enhance your setup even further

Microsoft has this week revealed that it will let users scale the Windows 8.1 user interface up by a maximum of 200 percent enabling you to still see it on even the highest resolution displays. Including the latest 4K 3840 x 2160 resolution displays.

Microsoft is also adding support within its new Windows 8.1 operating system to support per-display DPI scaling allowing you to scale up the resolution of your second monitor as high as 200 percent if required. Enabling text sizes to remain the same on both a laptop and connected display when required.

Microsoft has also announced that they will be providing developers with new Windows 8.1 API’s that will enable them to add features to applications that will automatically adjust settings depending on the screen resolution. The Lipituing website explains as an example :

“Internet Explorer’s default zoom level on an ultra HD display is 300 percent, which means it’ll show about the same amount of web content on a 4K screen as it does on a 1080p display.”

Microsoft is expected to launch their new Windows 8.1 operating system later this year sometime during the fall. When a specific release date is officially announced by Microsoft we will let you know as always.
