PS4 DualShock 4 Controller Almost Had The Ability To Measure Gamer Stress

PS4_dualshock_4Imagine a controller that could measure a gamer’s stress level. That almost happened with the PS$ dualshock controller.

Lead system architect at Sony, Mark Cerny, revealed in an interview that the company had considered making the DualShock 4 controller for PS4 capable of measuring a gamer’s stress levels. It would have measured the skin’s galvanic response, which reveals how conductive the skin is. Conduction varies with how much you are sweating. This is used in polygraph tests for lie detection, so it is reliable.
The idea was eventually scrapped. Cerny also said that the new controllers will feel “extraordinarily natural” when playing FPS games on PS4, thanks to new joysticks and improved triggers.
