"iPhone 5 to have a bigger, 4 inch screen"



Earlier this month Samsung announced their latest smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy SIII, which is seen as a challenger Apple’s iPhone. Now techies and Apple fans await the release
of the next iPhone and rumours are beginning to buzz online. The latest report is by Wall Street Journal which says that the new iPhone could sport a bigger screen.
According to the report,
The new iPhone that Apple Inc is expected to unveil this year is likely to have a larger display than its current models have, with the company ordering bigger screens from its Asian suppliers, people familiar with the matter said.
The new screens measure at least 4 inches diagonally, the people said, compared with 3.5 inches on Apple’s latest model, the iPhone 4S. Production is set to begin next month, the people said. Analysts have predicted that the next iPhone will come out in the fall.
According to the Journal report, Apple is reportedly ordering screens from several manufacturers, such as LG, Sharp, and Japan Display etc.
A much bigger screen for the new iPhone
Samsung’s Galaxy S III phone has a screen that’s 4.8 inches, a lot bigger than the current iPhone 4S. But it seems that the screen is not the only thing that will be getting an overhaul in the new iPhone. According to Mashable the next version of the iPhone could be made of LiquidMetal.
A mix of several different metals, LiquidMetal could allow the phone to be more durable. Light like plastic but durable like aluminum, it would also allow the phone to weigh less and have a thinner profile.

The new iPhone is likely to sport a faster processor and Near field communication (NFC) capabilities. NFC allows smartphones to transfer data between devices touching them together or bringing them close to each other without using the Wi-fi or data connection.
Samsung Galaxy SIII has a quad-cored processor and is NFC enabled. HTC One X, also has a quad-core processor. Both phones have much bigger screens than the current iPhone 4S.
The next iPhone is likely to sport a bigger screen but will that make the new iPhone bulky is not yet known. The Samsung Galaxy SIII is said to be almost weightless even though it has a bigger screen. But its plastic covering didn’t really wow tech pundits.
However, with Apple getting its phones a bigger screen, one wonders if the new iPhone will stick to the company’s philosophy of sticking to minimalist design.
