Nissan ZEOD RC 300KM/h Electric Hybrid racer Unveiled For Le Mans 24-hour Race

Nissan has this week unveiled its new Nissan ZEOD RC electric racing car that will compete in next years Le Mans 24-hour race next year.

The Nissan ZEOD-RC is a prototype is mainly electric and has been designed by Ben Bowlby Nissan’s Director of Motorsport Innovation and its name stands for Zero Emission On Demand Racing Car. Watch the video after the jump to learn more about the Nissan ZEOD-RC project and see it in action.

Nissan says that their Nissan ZEOD RC racing car is capable of reaching speeds of unto 300 KM/h or around 185mph and is the worlds fastest electric racing car. Andy Palmer, EVP of Nissan explained :

“The ZEOD RC program is designed to develop multiple technologies to evaluate how they could be used for a future LM P1 class return of Nissan at the Le Mans 24 Hour,” – “There are multiple options we are investigating. A Zero Emission on Demand option where the driver can switch between electric and petrol-powered drive is a future direction for road cars, so that will be tested in addition to pure electric power and other new technologies that we still have under development.”
