Google’s Android Grabs 75 Percent Of Smartphone Market In Q3

According to a recent report by IDC, Google’s Android platform has claimed 75 percent of the smartphone market for the third quarter of 2012, this is for worldwide sales of smartphones.

IDC says that a total of 136 million smartphones running Google’s Android OS were shipped in the third quarter of 2012, this compares to a total of 26.9 million iOS smartphones shipped by Apple, giving them a 14.9 percent share for the same period.

In third place is RIM’s Blackberry OS with a 4.3 percent share, this is then followed by Symbian with a 2.3 percent share, and then we have Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 and older Windows Mobile platform which accounted for a 2 percent share of the market.
