"Watch: Full (video) of Microsoft’s launch of Surface"


Microsoft today ventured into the tablet-cum personal computer domain by releasing its ‘Surface’ tablet computer. CEO Steve Ballmer announced the new tablet, calling it part of a
“whole new family of devices”.
Microsoft plans to launch two versions of Surface. The company showed off one of the versions, which is rumoured to be a cheaper device and runs on the Windows RT operating system. The device is only 9.3 millimetre thick and comes with a kickstand to hold it upright, as well as a touch keyboard cover that snaps on using magnets. It weighs under 1.5 pounds (680 grams) and is surprisingly light.
The other version of Surface, which was not shown by the company, will run on Windows 8 Pro. Each tablet comes with a keyboard cover that is just 0.12 inches (3 millimeters) thick. The kickstand for both tablets was just 0.03 inches (0.7 millimeters) thick, which is slimmer than a credit card. Microsoft has now put a full video of the release of the device.
