"Android for the elderly: Doro announces PhoneEasy 740"

Doro's PhoneEasy 740.

Okay, so everyone assumes that old people can’t handle technology. So a smartphone for that age group might seem a little ambitious, but that hasn’t stopped little-known Doro, from
launching an Android smartphone, the PhoneEasy 740, designed specifically for the elderly.
According to Tech2.in, though the brand may not advertise their phone as one just for the elderly, but apparently the Froyo-based smartphone boasts of features that are tailor-made for senior citizens.
According to CNET, “The PhoneEasy 740 is equipped with all the characteristics seen in most devices aimed at seniors. It retains the same generous keypad, the bumped-up audio volume, and the clean interface. But, because it’s aimed for those who want something in between an easy-to-use cell phone and a feature-packed smartphone, the PhoneEasy 740 is also an Android device that can browse through the Internet and load apps.”
So basically it’s not like normal Android as a lot of features that are common to Gingerbread or Ice-cream Sandwich, are not available on this phone.  Some of these features include a Doro Experience Interface, a Touch and slide out keypad, magnifier to help users read small print documents, and a five megapixel camera.
This smartphone also has 3G connectivity with Wi-fi.
The phone also has a an emergency call button that can dial or send a text message to five numbers already stored on the handset when pressed.
The Doro PhoneEasy 740 will launch in the US for $99 by the second quarter of 2013. As of now there’s no report as to when the phone will launch in India.
