Windows 8 ‘near final’ release preview coming in June
According to the Tech website, AllThingsD, Microsoft has confirmed that a near-final “release preview” version of Windows 8 is due in the first week of June. The report said that the news was confirmed by Windows unit President Steven Sinofsky who made the announcement at a Windows Developer Days event in Japan.


Early last week Microsoft had revealed 4 versions of the new Windows 8 which is widely expected in October this year. Microsoft has made the announcement in a Windows 8 developer blog post. which stated Windows 8 has the flexibility you need – whether you’re on an x86/64 or a WOA PC. You can use a touch screen or a keyboard and mouse – and switch anytime.

It’s obvious that Microsoft has a lot riding on Windows 8 which will be a significant successor to Window 7. Microsoft’s announcement had revealed the software giant’s new strategy, which seems to be centred around the tablet and smartphone market.

Windows 8 will have two versions for PC and laptop users Windows 8 and Windows 8 pro. For ARM Processor run tablets and smartphones the Windows 8 version will be called Windows RT.

There’s also Windows 8 Enterprise includes all the features of Windows 8 Pro plus features for IT organization that enable PC management and deployment, advanced security, virtualization, new mobility scenarios, and much more,according to the Windows 8 development blog.

Last week provided some cheer for Microsoft as it beats profit forecast, thanks to personal computer sales holding up better than expected.

While PC sales might give Microsoft the edge for now, Windows 8 seems to be catered for the burgeoning tablet and smartphones, a market dominated by Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS. For Microsoft to make a significant leap in the field it will have to up the ante, especially when it comes to the app world.
