A NASA astronaut and geologist have been on a camping trip with a twist - they were pretending to be on an asteroid.

HAVE you ever dreamed of sleeping on an asteroid in the middle of the solar system?

Well, an astronaut and a geologist have done just that...almost.

The NASA team recently spent three days "camping" and "flying" around an asteroid as
part of a training exercise.

But in reality, they were safe inside NASA's Space Exploration Vehicle prototype (SEV), parked at the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility at the Johnson Space Center.

The duo practised flying the SEV in a digital environment, dodging virtual 'asteroids', simulating space walks, and even venturing out to take rock samples.
