A craftsman in Drysdale, Australia keeps alive the rare art of manufacturing bats by hand.


Australia's Julian Millichamp has kept alive the rare art of making bats by hand.

DRYSDALE, AUSTRALIA: Craftsman Julian Milichamp shapes a cricket bat during the handmade
manufacture of cricket bats, known as "podshaving" in his home studio on May 12, 2010 in Drysdale, Australia. Milichamp has been a podshaver for over 30 years since he was a 16-year old apprentice, and his bats - Millichamp & Hall brand now owned by Puma, and now his own brand Screaming Cat - are amongst the most sought after cricket bats in the world, used by club cricketers and test players globally. He is one of only 6 people globally still hand crafting willow cricket bats
